Perfect Morning
I had been eyeing up OEUF @oeufberlin for months, their Instagram is full of delicious offerings tempting you in so I just had to go.
We walked with our lovely friend Nicole and her Spanish rescue dog Freddy. He‘s such a brilliant dog, he‘s so relaxed in cafes which makes him a good influence on Eevee.
On arrival we were not disappointed, a light, warm welcoming space. Vibrant yellow seating and a ceiling full of greenery. I always ask if its ok to go inside with the dog, never presume. Not everyone likes dogs and that’s ok. We were delighted when they said “yes of course please come in” and I immediately spotted a huge great dane snoozing in the corner. Clearly he was a café pro.
The menu has plenty of sweet and savoury choices and also the option to build your own breakfast. I chose the croque monsieur, having a cheese craving and Nicole opted for poached eggs on toasted brioche.
It was delightful. Crispy toast, fresh ham and melted cheese and the bechamel sauce was just right. Im also quite judgy about poached eggs because I get so upset about soggy bread, but Nicole assured me it was delicious and the brioche was perfect all the way through.
I had a large oat milk cappuccino and safe to say it was spot on. Not too milky and a strong coffee flavour throughout.
While we sat in the sunny window, Eevee tried to make friends with the nice couple sat next to us and we knew she had her eye on their French toast. Freddy was, as always, a good boy and lay down under the table but Eevee was not having it, she still needs to learn about café culture. So after a quick consumption of all the yummies we left.
Good prices, very friendly staff, great for dogs, food was on point, loads of outside seating so I imagine in summer this place is packed, today it was perfect for us.
We opted for a different walk home and took a stroll down the Panke. It’s the first time Ive walked this section so I did have to keep referring to the map to stay in the right direction. Eevee and Freddy were overjoyed to see the ducks and jumped on some tree stumps. This is a pretty little area to stroll safely with your dog and end up at the back of “Park am Nordbahnof” which gave the dogs another chance at a run around.
An epic morning. 3 hour round trip, so not one to do if you’ve a work deadline, but if you fancy an adventure and some good eggs this one is well worth it.
Thank you Oeuf
